Double, large flower opens wine red. Attractive color and darker than ‘Karl Rosenfield’. Not always fully double, yellow stamens visible. Vigorous with satisfying plant habit, good grower, reliable bloomer with ample color on large, medium height bush. Straight stems, leaning with open flower, especially with inclement weather, consider adding mechanical support when to be flowered in the viewed landscape. A dependable heirloom variety that does well in the landscape and furnishes fine stems for cutting. It is an excellent cut flower garden peony.
