The champion class of peonies are varieties that won prestigious awards at various national and international conventions and flower shows.

Foremost and perhaps the best well known organization bestowing awards for peonies is the American Peony Society (APS), followed by the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) and the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society (PHS) with their world renowned shows in Philadelphia and Chelsea respectively.
