Description

The fragrant, bomb double flower opens pink with pigmentation more pronounced in cool spring climate, nearly rose-pink. The color fades in the sun with petals appearing to be veiled in sliver, the petal margins frosted by the time they drop. The medium size flower is well-furnished with petals. A saucer of broad guards holds a ball of slender segments. Altogether, it is a nicely tailored, substantial flower. The bush has a good plant habit, it is vigorous and increases well, forming a broad clump within a few years of planting. It is a dependable bloomer producing ample color on a medium height bush. The strong stem carries the flower near the foliage and arch somewhat with the heavy bloom. It is surprisingly free-standing but benefits from light support against rain. The bush is generously furnished with glossy deep green foliage which remains healthy and green for the growing season, well into fall here in NW Missouri. The stems are just long enough for cutting fine stems for the vase. This historic cultivar is an excellent choice for the cut flower garden and the sunny border.
